This piece on Dr. Marian Croak was part of the Women’s History Month project for @helloblacksmiths. In addition to holding over 200 patents, Dr. Croak’s career includes work in Voice over IP, text-to-donate technology, and in 2013 she was inducted into the Women in Technology Hall of Fame. She is currently Vice President of Engineering at Google, and previously worked at AT&T at Bell Labs.
I was inspired by how so much of Dr. Croak’s work and patents are centered around making communication and connection more accessible to people around the world, with her work in making it possible to donate via text, and helping get wifi to remote locations.
